Refund and Return Policy

Last updated: 16 September 2026

This Refund and Return Policy applies to purchases made directly from Fergusson & Bottlebrush.

Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You may be entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Major and Minor Problems

A product may have a major problem where a reasonable consumer would not have purchased it had they known about the problem, it is substantially unfit for its normal purpose, it is materially different from its description or it is unsafe.

For a major problem, you may reject the product and choose a refund or replacement, or keep it and seek compensation for its reduction in value. For a minor problem, we may choose to repair, replace or refund within a reasonable time. If we cannot remedy a minor problem within a reasonable time, further remedies may apply.

Voluntary Change-of-Mind Returns

Australian law does not generally require a retailer to accept a return merely because a customer changed their mind. In addition to your statutory rights, Fergusson & Bottlebrush voluntarily accepts eligible change-of-mind returns requested within 30 days after delivery.

The product must be unused, unworn, unwashed, unaltered and returned with its original tags, accessories and packaging. Proof of purchase is required.

Items Excluded From Change-of-Mind Returns

  • Underwear, earrings and other hygiene-sensitive products;
  • Swimwear where a hygiene seal has been removed;
  • Personalised, made-to-order or altered products;
  • Gift cards and downloadable products;
  • Products identified as final sale before purchase; and
  • Products showing wear, washing, odour, damage or missing tags.

These exclusions do not limit remedies for faulty, unsafe, incorrectly described or otherwise non-compliant products.

Sale and Promotional Products

Sale and promotional products remain protected by the Australian Consumer Law. Products marked final sale cannot be returned for change of mind but may still be returned when an applicable consumer guarantee has not been met.

Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Products

Contact us as soon as reasonably possible if an order arrives damaged, faulty, unsafe, materially different from its description or incorrect. Include your order number, a description of the problem and, where practical, photographs.

Where a claim is valid, we will provide the remedy required by law and pay or reimburse reasonable return costs. Original packaging is not required to exercise a statutory right, although reasonable proof of purchase may be requested.

How to Request a Return

Email returns@fergussonandbottlebrush.com.au before sending a product. Include your name, order number, product, reason for return and requested outcome. We will provide return instructions and, where applicable, a return authorisation.

Return Shipping Costs

For an approved change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for return postage and the parcel until it reaches us. We recommend using a tracked service.

For a product that fails an applicable consumer guarantee, Fergusson & Bottlebrush will pay or reimburse reasonable return costs where required by law.

Inspection and Partial Refunds

Change-of-mind returns will be inspected after arrival. We may refuse a voluntary return or make a reasonable deduction if the product does not satisfy the eligibility conditions. We will not make a deduction that conflicts with the Australian Consumer Law.

Refund Method and Timing

Approved refunds will ordinarily be issued to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after approval. Financial institutions may require additional processing time.

Original delivery charges are not normally refunded for a change-of-mind return. Where goods breach a consumer guarantee, delivery charges and reasonably foreseeable losses will be handled as required by law.

Exchanges and Store Credit

Eligible products may be exchanged subject to availability. If the requested replacement is unavailable, we may offer a refund or store credit. You do not have to accept store credit when the Australian Consumer Law entitles you to a monetary refund.

Final-Sale Products

A final-sale designation applies only to voluntary change-of-mind returns. It does not remove statutory remedies for faulty, unsafe, incorrectly described or otherwise non-compliant products.

Non-Delivery

Contact us if your order has not been delivered within the communicated timeframe. We will investigate with the carrier and provide any remedy required under the Australian Consumer Law.

Returned-to-Sender Orders

An order returned because of an incorrect customer-supplied address, refusal or failure to collect may incur reasonable redelivery or return costs. This does not apply where the return resulted from our error, carrier failure or a breach of consumer guarantees.

Late Refunds

If an approved refund has not appeared after the stated timeframe, check with your bank or payment provider and then contact us with your order details.
